Nature Preserve

Welcome to the Bucuti Tara – GMC Nature Preserve, a protected green sanctuary located in the heart of Noord, one of Aruba’s most developed tourism areas.

On an island where green space is rapidly vanishing under concrete and construction, this untouched land — Aruba’s last undeveloped private terrain in Noord — could easily have been transformed into resorts or restaurants. Instead, it is now being reforested and preserved.

Thanks to the vision and generosity of Ewald Biemans, Grete Marie Case, and the strong support of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, this precious land — covering 13 hectares (32 acres) — will now be preserved forever.

Gifted in 2020, the nature preserve is dedicated to safeguarding Aruba’s native ecosystem for the enjoyment of both residents and visitors.

Our goal is clear: to reforest, restore, and protect — creating a living legacy of sustainability for generations to come.

“Every tree we plant strengthens the foundation for a more resilient and self-sustaining Aruba. The preserve is more than a carbon sink; it is a living classroom and a gift to our island where nature, people, and knowledge come together. By protecting and restoring our ecosystems, we can show that even a small island can make a meaningful contribution to global climate action.”
— Ewald Biemans, Owner of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort

Fauna & Flora

Native trees such as the Divi-divi, Kwihi, Fofoti, and Wayaca are being replanted to anchor the landscape and attract local wildlife.

Aruba is home to more than 280 bird species, and the Bucuti Tara – GMC Nature Preserve is expected to provide crucial habitat and a safe haven for native and migratory birds, including the Warawara (Crested Caracara), Shoco (Aruban Burrowing Owl), and Prikichi (Aruban Parakeet), among others.
